Meet Ginny – our VW camper, ready for your next adventure
Ginny is our much-loved VW T6 campervan and has taken us on some brilliant family adventures – from waking up by the coast to piling the bikes on the back and heading off for the day. We're now renting her out so other people can enjoy her too.
She's a professionally converted Bilbo's camper and, being long-wheelbase, has that bit of extra space that makes a real difference once you're away. She's also automatic and genuinely lovely to drive – much more like driving a car than a big motorhome.
Ginny sleeps three and is perfect for a couple or a small family. The back seat folds down into a generous double bed and there's a separate bed in the pop-top that's ideal for a child. The roof opens out to the side, giving you loads of standing room during the day and making the whole van feel surprisingly spacious once you're pitched up.
The double passenger seat swivels round too, so you can all sit together around the table for breakfast, dinner, games or a glass of wine in the evening.
One of the things we love about Ginny is that you can actually cook in her. She has a two-ring gas hob, sink with running water, fridge/freezer and a proper grill, plus plenty of cupboard and worktop space.
For sunny days there's a side awning, and there's a large bike rack on the back if you want to bring bikes along.
There's loads of useful storage throughout the van, which we've really appreciated when travelling as a family – you can actually unpack rather than spending your holiday surrounded by bags.
And if you've never been away in a campervan before, that's absolutely fine. Ginny is really straightforward to drive and we'll give you a proper handover before you leave, showing you how the roof, beds, kitchen, water, electrics and awning all work. We want you to head off feeling excited about your trip rather than wondering what all the switches do!
Ginny isn't part of a rental fleet – she's our own family camper and we really love her. We've tried to make sure she has the things that make being away comfortable and easy, while still keeping all the fun and freedom of camping.
She's brilliant for weekends by the sea, cycling trips, longer road trips or just escaping somewhere beautiful for a few days.
Pick a destination, throw your bags in the back and off you go.
