Hello,
After having rented 2 fitted vans and a motorhome three times from Yescapa, we finally took the plunge and ordered a Challenger 240 Open Edition motorhome in October 2021, which we received in May of this year. A test for 4 weeks in June and July confirmed our choice beyond our expectations, both from the point of view of its interior comfort, its size and its ease of driving (Ford carrier, 170 HP diesel engine, 6-speed automatic transmission). We consumed 9.54 L/100 km over a 1990 km route while respecting the speed limits (80 km/h on national and departmental roads, between 100 and 110 km on expressways and motorways excluding toll sections). Thank you Wave!
A special feature of this motorhome is that it has a storage compartment at the rear of the same height as the living cell and accessible both from the inside and from the outside by a door at human height located on its rear left, thus providing it with a real additional room, furnished with shelves and storage drawers. At the rear right is another cargo door, this time of traditional height which also gives access to this room in which I have fitted out a custom-made piece of furniture where all the exterior equipment of the vehicle is stored (armchairs, stool , table, storage cabinet and outdoor gas stove, extension cord, water hose, leveling wedges, etc...) so that it does not look like a cargo hold...often messy ! And I assure you that this part makes all the difference in the use of this motorhome which thus seems to go from 7m to 7.50m all of a sudden.
Never moving without our bikes, I added a bike lift bike rack from BR-Systems which lowers them to the ground electrically and raises them to us in the same way at 1.10 m 😀. This bike rack is designed for 2 bikes for a maximum load of 60 kg. Always place the heaviest/largest bike closest to the wall.
Although this motorhome has 4 beds, it is true that it is really ideal for a couple (this is our case!). The very comfortable 160X190 drop-down bed descends electrically onto the seat of the benches (after having lowered the table, also electrically) without having to move the backrests. Which is almost the height of a normal bed and thus avoids the use of a ladder. On the other hand, if 2 additional people, the dinette bed 125X195, considered as an extra bed, will require an additional relatively bulky cushion (white in the photo) which will then have to be stored in the back room/hold, with the bench seat back 🤔. If only 1 additional person, the bench seat in the dinette, backrest also removed may possibly be sufficient for a child (63X 195). On the other hand, the drop-down bed must be lowered to half height and the ladder must be used. A last solution that many children will probably prefer (depending on their age!) would be to set up a small tent nearby! Tranquility also for parents 😏. We have made the decision due to COVID not to provide bed linen and towels. We therefore ask the tenant to bring his own linen, including pillows. The mattress will be covered with a mattress pad which will be washed between each rental.
We can provide you with a new Nania brand car seat, Auto Racer model (non-ISOFIX) with pillow group 1/2/3 (9-36 kg) free of charge. This seat will be placed on the back seat, the child facing the road.
We have also decided not to equip our “trailer” with a television, because we think that we watch it too much at home. This should allow us to detoxify ourselves a bit and enjoy our free time differently. I know not everyone thinks so! All you have to do is observe the number of antennas valiantly erected on the roofs of motorhomes, in the evening at the campsite or on the areas...I hope this will not harm us for our rentals. . We will revise our point of view if necessary!
Guides and books available in the motorhome:
- Atlas France of greenways and cycle routes (Chamina edition)
- The official guide to the most beautiful villages in France
- Road and tourist atlas of France motorhome and van 2022
- ACSI volume 2 2022 Campsites and motorhome areas
- The official guide to motorhome service areas 2022
General provisions
This motorhome will be delivered to you clean, with a full tank of fuel and water, emptying of gray water carried out and the toilet cassette emptied and cleaned. In this regard, a container of concentrated “Aqua Kem Blue” sanitary additive will be available in the motorhome. After each emptying of the cassette, a dose will have to be incorporated.
We therefore ask you to return it to us in the same state of cleanliness. Otherwise, we will be obliged to withhold a cleaning fee of 80 € from the deposit, the same for the toilet cassette not emptied and not rinsed....but we are certain that this will not happen. !
A dishwashing kit including foldable bowl, dish drainer with tray, sponges, dishwashing liquid will be at your disposal as well as some condiments for the kitchen: fine salt, coarse salt, pepper, spices, olive oil,...
The additional clean water will be easier to carry out at home (if possible!), the emptying of waste water can be done on the Plouay motorhome area, very easy to access (opposite the cemetery and close to the Netto) and additional fuel at the Carrefour Market service station, also visible from the service area.
We will be able to park your vehicle safely on our land for the duration of your rental
We remind you that this motorhome is non-smoking and that animals are not allowed.
A fire extinguisher is attached to the seat frame on the passenger side (between seat and door)
Will be at your disposal canister engine oil, coolant and windscreen washer.
This motorhome is equipped with a single bottle of gas-propane, given that the fridge is a compression fridge (135 L) running on electricity only (12V and 220V) and the heating runs on fuel from the vehicle. The gas is therefore only used for cooking and heating water at the tap. Therefore, if you run out of gas (it will happen to someone one day!), we would ask you to buy a new bottle along the way, which we will reimburse you with proof on your return.
I will surely have omitted some elements in this description that I have tried to be as complete as possible, so do not hesitate to submit your questions to me and even to meet me and see the vehicle, prior to any rental.
So hopefully see you soon
Jean Pierre
NB: A black “Challenger” bag with instructions for use of the various materials used in this motorhome will be stored on the shelf above the driving position, on the driver's side, as well as a binder where I took the liberty of insert some common sense advice and information that I have found useful.
