We recently rented this motorhome and appreciated the smooth handover from James, who was polite and professional. However, the overall condition of the vehicle was disappointing. When we first entered the motorhome, the upper bunk window was open, likely for ventilation. Because of this, the strong pet smell wasn’t immediately noticeable. But after we closed the vehicle and reopened it later, the odor was overwhelming, especially in the lower bunk bed area (6th berth) and storage compartment, making those areas unusable. When we mentioned the smell to James, he explained that the motorhome had previously been rented to a customer with pets and said it had been professionally cleaned — but this clearly didn’t seem to be the case. We found pet hair on all the mattress covers, a strong odor coming from the floor mat, and dust and hair in the seating area, which I had to clean myself since we were traveling with kids. The edges of all windows were also dusty and had visible pet hair. The grill shelf inside the fridge had a white patch, and the bathroom mirror cabinet door wouldn’t close properly. To make the space usable, we used odor eliminators and covered all fabric areas — including the driver’s seat — with our own bed sheets and towels. We completely avoided using the 5th and 6th berths, the toilet, and the storage compartment. The TV didn’t work, despite James saying there was £10 of credit — YouTube just kept buffering. On top of that, the water tank cap was loose, and James instructed us to keep it inside while driving and only attach it when parked. Because of that, water kept spilling out at every right turn and roundabout. Since we had already booked our pitch and made all arrangements, we had no option but to use the motorhome in this condition. While James was friendly and respectful, the motorhome was clearly not cleaned or maintained to an acceptable standard, and the experience significantly impacted our trip. April 2025
