Here's Landy, our Defender, converted into a camper for a family of 4 for wild adventures, comfy camps and unforgettable memories.
It seats 4, and can take two adults or child seats in the rear (non-isofix). The fifth seat has been replaced with a generous fridge/freezer, lots of cupboards (including a handy wine rack) and all the electronics modern life requires!
It has a pop-top, which leaves plenty of space for two adults to sleep upstairs, plus any little ones who might join. The table/seating area at the back converts into comfy beds suitable for two children.
As it's a pop-top rather than a roof-top tent, everything is inside at night. You can sleep with an upstairs door open so you can check on downstairs, or close it for privacy. The upstairs floor lifts up to the roof, so during the day there's space inside to stand, and to sit comfortably and eat at the in-built table and bench seats.
At the rear, there is a slide-out kitchen, with a good-sized sink and double gas hob. There is also a second slide-out tray with boxes for kitchen supplies, and there's a large awning for outdoor cooking in any weather. We can also supply a separate spare tyre-mounted grill for cooking on open fires.
It's a 2008 XS model (the top of the range - generally the theme with the build), and has tech upgrades such as wireless Apple Carplay/Android Auto for satnav, an aftermarket sound system, a rear reversing camera (which makes parking surprisingly easy), and even electric windows!
There is rudimentary Land Rover air-con (it will warm the cabin nicely, but opening the windows can be more effective for cooling down when driving), and also an excellent heater in the sleeping area, which keeps everybody warm through the night at any time of year. In the Summer, the roof tent has side windows (with flynets) that open to keep cool and give a beautiful morning view of the world from up top.
Naturally great off-road, Landy will take you wherever your wanderlust leads. Who needs the beaten track!?
