Billy is a super laid back dude, handover both ways went very smooth and stressless. We went full-on with Big Bertha, starting in Edinburgh, Ben Lamond, Three Sisters(we wanted to go to Loch Etive through "skyfall road", but Scottish single-file roads scared us in the beginning, so we cut that out of our plan). Then we moved towards Skye and stayed there for about three days visiting Sligachan Waterfalls, Old Man of Storr, The Quiraing, Fairy Glen, Coral Beach, Neist Point and Talisker. When we returned to mainland, the road took us north, all the way to Dunnet Head. On our 3-day long way back to Edinburgh we saw Peedie Sands, Duncansby Stacks, Castle Sinclair, Chanonry Point, Clava Cairns, Cairgorm Mountain, Loch Rannoch and finally The Hermitage. We spent last night in Silverdyke campervan parking in lovely coastal village of Cellardyke. As for the motorhome itself - we had some problems with leisure battery not charging during driving, so initially we didn't use hot water etc, but we were in constant contact with Billy and he went above and beyond to try and fix the issue by arranging mobile mechanic(Robert - Crofts and Lochs engineering, brilliang guy) TWICE! Somewhere in the middle of our trip Billy got us a brand new battery and with recent fixes we finally had everything we could dream of in a motorhome - Lights, hot water, all of it. We never stayed in one place for more than 1 night and we were mostly off-grid so overall I think Big Bertha did alright. Plenty of space for 3 people, quite good condition, drives ok without unpleasant surprises:)

Why rent an RV in Italy?

There are plenty of reasons to hire an RV in Italy. One of the most amazing things is how an RV gives you all the freedom to travel. You do not need train tickets or a hotel reservation, you can simply go with the flow. Especially in Italy this is so much fun. Through RV rental you can really experience the ultimate Italian La Dolce Vita. Just follow your feeling, cruise wherever the roads take you and enjoy everything Italy has to offer. Also nice to know, in Italy you can find many vintage VW campervans to hire- photo ready!

Where to go in the Italy?

Italy looks like a boot, and every part of the boot has its own specialties. The wavy hills in Tuscany with the typical houses and cypresses, the beautiful rough Dolomites, Garda Lake, the Amalfi coast, the beautiful villages of Cinque Terre and so much more. Italy also has amazing cities. Who wouldn’t want to stroll through the streets of Rome, go shopping in Milan, take a photo with the tower of Pisa and get lost in alleys of Venice?

You can also visit Sicily and Sardinia in an RV. You can rent one on the mainland and go there by boat, but you can also go there and discover Sicily and Sardinia through RV rental over there. The islands are pretty special each in their own way. With a coastline of more than 1,000 km Sicily has much to offer for a vacation full of sun, water sports, swimming and snorkeling. You can also hike the volcano Etna. Sardinia has great nature to offer, you can even find flamingos in the south.

Things to do in Italy

Let your inner Julia Roberts out and go to Italy to really take your time with high quality food again. It doesn’t matter where you go, as you’ll find the best food and drinks everywhere. Real cappuccino (remember they only drink it in the morning), thin pizza fresh from the oven (go to Naples for a real pizza Margherita), pasta with the best high quality ingredients, bread dipped in homemade olive oil, tiramisu (probably the reason why they call life sweet) and such good wine that even the look of it in your glass will give you a warm feeling inside. And the best thing is, all the food is pretty cheap.

So enjoy the sweeter things in life through a trip to Italy, complete with an RV rental. Cruise through the dramatic landscapes of Italy and treasure the finer things in life, with motorhome hire ensuring the whole family can come along. Check out RV possibilities to rent below:
