Valentine's Day has an annoying habit of sneaking up on you, so here a few tips to get you ahead and plan that surprise!

It’s never too late to start thinking about a Valentine’s day surprise. It comes round a lot faster than we expect! So, in aid of being prepared, we’ve come up with four romantic places, or cities, to visit in the Netherlands. Perfect to visit for a moment, and even better in a motorhome.

The Hague

Off the bat, you can see the museum of Escher. You may think “A museum? Where’s the romance in that?” Normally, we agree! However, this time, not so. Not only is it absolutely gorgeous, and thus providing lots of photo opportunites, it also provides fun memorabilia. There are combination tickets, which mean you can visit a variety of museums. We also recommend walking up Denneweg, which is around the corner, and getting cosy in one of the cafes or restaurants.

Of course, there’s everything to do in Amsterdam. You can be married for a day, or visit the Tropenmuseum (another one, we know), which on Valentine’s Day makes an effort to celebrate love. Even temporary tattoo. Onwards, you can go to the Oudemanhuispoort, where there is a lovely second-hand bookstore. Go there and search for titles that suit your relationship. Then, discuss at a local cafe!

It may not be the first city that comes to mind when you think of romance, but you’re mistaken Hidden between the towering building is great enjoyment. Have lunch at Raaff in the afternoon, and due to the likelihood of the music, there’s a lovely light atmosphere. Around the corner is the neighbourhood of Katendrecht, which is very up-and-coming. A great spot to spend the day!

A super romantic city, and we aren’t saying that just because that’s where Goboony is based! It’s a small Amsterdam, with a lot less tourists. You can take a boat trip through the city, or visit the Rubens Tasting Room for a wine tasting. Perhaps a romantic meal at five o’clock, with some champagne? Then visit Rabarber. Visit Dom Tower, but instead of up, go down for a change!
