Goboony was created out of love for motorhome travel. Ever since the first owners joined us in 2015, we have been on a mission to make motorhome-sharing safe, easy and accessible for everyone. We view owners who choose to hire out their vehicles on our platform as partners and therefore want to make sure they can run their hire business as worry-free as possible. Together, we’ve made some incredible things happen: we’ve grown to a community of over 10,000 motorhome owners across six countries—and tens of thousands of happy travellers.
On this decade-long journey of creating the best possible peer-to-peer platform, we have never made a profit out of the business. Instead, we continuously invest in our platform, support services and marketing, all to ensure our users, owners and travellers alike, get the best possible experience on our platform.
We have always been committed to improving our service based on feedback from our users, as well as involving owners in future developments of our platform. To help us do so, we collect a service fee from travellers who book a motorhome on our platform. The income from our traveller service fee is invested straight back into the platform in several ways, which you can read more about below.
How we put your listing in the spotlight
Almost 40% of our income goes right back into marketing. Why? Because we want to make sure your advert gets the attention it deserves. Thanks to these efforts, millions of visitors come to our site every year, and each month we reach millions more on social media. Whether it’s through ads on Google, working with influencers, or creating buzz with free publicity, we’re always working to introduce people to the world of motorhome travel.
But it’s not just about getting eyes on your advert – we also invest in building trust. Through detailed information on our website, managing reviews on platforms like Trustpilot and Google, and answering questions on social media, we help travellers feel confident hiring from private owners like yourself.
How we look after safety and service
Your peace of mind is our top priority. Using advanced software, our support team manually screen travellers to ensure only verified users are booking motorhomes on our platform. We handle all the legal documentation and contracts for your bookings and ensure deposits are taken care of, allowing you to focus on what matters most. We also work closely with third-party suppliers to ensure your earnings are safe and payouts are always secure.
We have a continuous commitment to improving our customer experience. More travellers than ever are resolving their issues through our new online Help Centre, which means we can focus even more on helping you.
Lastly, we also cover costs like transaction fees for payments on the platform, technical upkeep, and hosting, ensuring everything runs smoothly for you.
How we manage the platform and additional products
We're constantly improving our platform to make it better for both travellers and owners. For instance, we were the first platform to create a unique day insurance product for hiring out. We regularly launch new products to improve our customer experience, such as the "Motorhome Needed" feature, through which you are now also able to approach travellers who are looking for a motorhome.
How do we calculate the service fee?
We charge a 19.5% service fee to travellers on bookings. We do not charge owners who hire out their motorhomes a fee.
When a traveller books a motorhome on Goboony, they are charged a service fee of 19.5% of the hire cost. Don’t worry – this doesn’t come out of your earnings. The service fee is added on top of the hire price, so the total amount the traveller sees will be higher than what you receive.
The total amount the traveller pays consists of:
- Your daily rate x the amount of booked days
- Your cleaning fee (optional)
- The service fee of 19.5% of your total hire price and optional cleaning fee (this is not taken out of your income)
- Costs for insurance (optional)
- A fixed booking fee of £35 for bookings up to 4 days long, and £50 for bookings of 5 days or more
