Welcome to Blà Bheinn!
My name is Billy Collins I’ve spent ten years working at sea as an Engineer Officer, often away from home for long periods. After starting a family, I wanted to build something that allowed me to stay closer to home while sharing the place that means the most to me. Growing up on the Isle of Skye in a family run B&B I met many tourists and saw first-hand how special this country can be for visitors.
Sòlas is a Gaelic word meaning comfort, consolation, contentment and joy. This is what we want for you when you hire one of our vans. We want you to achieve a complete get away from the stresses and strains of life and in Scotland we are very fortunate as this is easily done.
Scotland is best explored slowly. The freedom of a campervan allows you to wake up beside a Loch, follow quiet Highland roads and stop whenever a view catches your eye. Whether you are heading through Glencoe, along the North Coast, exploring the Lake District, driving through the French Alps or discovering somewhere completely unexpected, this van is designed to give you the freedom to travel wherever the road takes you.
The Van
We’ve named this van Blà Bheinn (Blaven) after one of our favourites of the Black Cullins on the Isle of Skye. We had it commissioned by Northbound Campervans who did an incredible job. It’s a long wheelbase Citroen Relay so it’s nice and spacious while the quality of the conversion brings a real feeling of comfort. We have opted for a conversion that gives you a home away from home to keep you comfortable on your holiday.
The bed is a small double with a luxury mattress and has cutouts in the bulkheads to give that extra bit of leg room for the taller folk among us. There are two large seats to relax on and a slide out table to enjoy your drinks and dinner on. The kitchen is fitted with a double gas hob for cooking and the gas bottle is stored in a sealed container. A kitchen sink and tap is also fitted for cleaning up afterwards. Storage can be found under the seats, in the kitchen cabinets and overhead cabinets. The van is also fitted with a large fridge (by campervan standards) for food and drink storage.
The electrics runs on a 12v system unless you are hooked up in a campsite where you with be able to use the 230v plug sockets.
Other features:
- Bedding included
- 57L water tank
- Reversing camera
- Diesel heater
- Optional cassette toilet
You are welcome to leave your car on our drive while you’re away. If you require any further information we are happy to chat about the van and your plans!
