Charles – Land Rover Discovery with rooftop tent

Thank you for your interest in my car. I'm Eric, 36, and the father of three beautiful boys. The four of us regularly go on road trips together. Our goal is to be able to take increasingly longer trips!

After purchasing my Laro, which was christened Charles (what's with the royal name?), I've been constantly developing the car and its setup! During and after every trip, new ideas and solutions emerge that are incorporated into the car. After purchasing the roof rack, rooftop tent, and awning, the car was ready for adventures! And with building a kitchen unit, the next step has already been taken. I bought the car as a 5-seater, but quickly added a third row of seats to create a 7-seater.

Roof tent
The roof tent (with mattress; 160 x 220 cm) offers enough space for three adults (or, as in my case, one adult and three children) to sleep on the roof. There's also an under-tent that's easy to pitch, giving you more privacy and more space to store your belongings. Setting up the tent is quite simple and takes just 10 minutes.

Awning
On the side of the car is an awning that extends 270 degrees. This allows you to set up ample protection from sun or rain in just a few minutes. Because the awning extends over the rear of the car, you'll always stay dry while cooking. The awning also has side walls. I mainly use these when I'm staying in one spot for a longer period and want to create more outdoor space. Even when it's a bit colder outside, it's nice to have the walls.

Kitchen
The trunk houses a kitchenette with a refrigerator (12V for driving and 220V for camping) and a two-burner gas stove (gas is not included, but can be purchased). This way, you're always stocked with hot food and cold drinks! There's also ample storage space for groceries and supplies, as well as kitchen inventory.

5- or 7-seater
If it is necessary to create more seating space, two additional seats can be created by removing the kitchenette.

Tow bar
The car is equipped with a tow bar, and with a maximum towing capacity of 3500kg, there's little that can't be towed. Please note that a BE driving license is required for self-braking trailers.
