Wies – 2p Volkswagen campervan from 2012

Wies is a cozy two-person self-build camper. It was built during the Corona period to replace my canceled world trip. She has been put together with a lot of love and works like a train. She has now seen countries such as Norway, Scotland, Poland, Slovakia, Germany and of course the Netherlands.

The folding roof makes it easy to stand while cooking. There are 2 gas burners and a small sink with a pump tap. The tap is connected to a clean water jerry can and the sink to the dirty water jerry can. There is a 3kg gas bottle available.

The seating area is on the low side of the roof, where height is less needed. The L sofa offers plenty of space for chilling out and offers 2 places at the folding table to eat or play. There is storage space under the sofa and there are also plenty of cupboards on the wall where things can be stored.

You can extend the sofa and turn it into a bed with an extension. Not the biggest, it's still camping! The advantage of this bed is that you are not lying on a hard back seat, but simply on a thick Ikea mattress, adapted to camper pass.

There is no permanent electricity in the bus, instead there is the Goal Zero Yeti Portable Power Station. This has different inputs for both 230v and 12v to which the cool box is connected. The power station is charged by a solar panel or by charging it while driving. Perfect for free camping! If you are at the campsite, it can also be charged via the socket.

Wies is not built for the tallest of us. The bed is 1.90 m long, but it is a tight seat behind the wheel for tall drivers (read longer than 1.85).

Because I actually don't use her enough and I think that's a shame, I hope you go on an adventure with her!
