Henry – 2p Mercedes-Benz bus from 2007

Henry, once a plumber's van, has now been transformed into a wonderful off-grid camper due to his fascination with rock climbing and the forests as a passion project! Equipped with running water, a 2-burner gas stove, various lamps and charging points, an ambilight cork wall with all colors of LED, a compression refrigerator (cold beer!!!) with freezer compartment, and the most beautiful oak kitchen top in a bus ever.

My girlfriend and I, with a lot of love and attention, and a bit of grumbling and panic from my wife "omg this will never work" while insulating the entire bus with Armaflex, we built Henry completely to our taste and smell. We love to cook, hence the large countertop and nice stove, because that is mainly what we missed in our previous van (and many other vans that we saw) is a decently sized worktop, hence this choice.

Small custom-made benches with an extendable table where 3 people can sit perfectly and we often used an ottoman to play games with 4 people on rainy days. The table can also be extended at the back and used as a standing table. to use, please don't stand up, but it can handle a few beers and an armrest!

The large bench has a flap with plenty of storage space and the small bench has a flap but also a door where a removable trash can and fire extinguisher are hidden.

I am 1.86cm and my girlfriend is 1.72, and we can easily lie in the bed together, a little bit diagonally, but that is nice and cozy in the oak box bed. At the foot side there are folding cabinets where we mainly transport clothing, with a cork notice board underneath where I have mounted an LED strip at the back for a beautiful light experience and breathable colors. There are also two bendable reading lamps on the wall at the head end (with integrated USB ports).

We cruised through Europe for a number of months without any car problems, saw snow, got badly sunburned at 35 degrees and adopted a dog. Henry loved it all and never grumbled in any mountain pass with his 6 gears. Always drives great, because yes, a large diesel bus is super fun to drive, and fortunately not so old that it is not allowed anywhere in France because of the particulate filter.
