Bink – 6p Fiat alcove from 1988

Welcome to Bink, our fantastic camper born in 1988.

We bought our camper Bink in 2020. An old, but super cool camper with double rear axle and a lot of space. Bink's motor was fine and it was watertight. Since 2020 we have had many fantastic holidays with it and we have started renovating it, both outside and inside. The outside in particular had to be repainted, we removed a large part of the inside to make it more to our wishes and to give it a nice fresh cleaning. So you have to love it, it shows that we renovated it ourselves :)

Because this camper has never let us down, is super comfortable and drives really well in the mountains for its age, we renamed it Bink. He really deserves this name!

Bink is like new in terms of comfort, but knows that it does not contain any new 'gadgets'. This means, among other things, that you hear the engine louder while driving than with newer campers and that occasionally some black smoke comes out of the exhaust when it gets a little heavier (on steep slopes). Bink has no air conditioning while driving, but all windows can be opened and the blowers work well!

The driver drives like a bus driver on a lovely old-fashioned seat with suspension. The passenger seat is placed higher, making you feel like a king when you sit in the front. There are two lap belts in the back.

Bink is a 6-person camper. The alcove has a comfortable Beter Bed bed measuring 140x200cm. The seat can also be converted into a 120x200cm bed on which an 8cm thick topper is placed for comfortable sleeping. There is another bunk bed in the back of Bink. Both mattresses are 70x200cm. Our children love these beds because they look like a hut when you lie in them. Teenagers might find it a bit cramped.

The seat is large enough for 6 people. The passenger seat can be rotated and offers the 6th seat.
A new kitchen has been installed with a three-burner (gas) stove. You also have the option to cook on a two-burner electric stove (especially nice if you want to cook outside because there is also an outdoor socket on the camper). There is a sink that flows into a large gray water tank. Bink has a 75-liter clean water tank. The camper has enough storage space for food. It has a large absorption refrigerator and freezer. The oven and bread maker are optional. The complete kitchen inventory is included and you also receive an orange juicer.

There is also a cooling blower mounted on the roof and there is a gas heater in the camper for the cold days. There is no boiler installed, so there is no hot water available. Of course we do have a kettle and Nespresso coffee machine.

There is plenty of hanging and laying area for clothes. We also have cupboards above the seating area and large storage compartments under the seating area.

The bathroom is old, it still looks that way now, but it has a new flushable toilet! There is a spacious sink with a large cupboard above it for storing things. The bathroom will still be tackled in the winter of 2023-2024 and will probably be as new when the summer camping season starts again.

All windows and skylights are equipped with mosquito nets and blackout curtains. There is a roof box on top of the camper for extra storage space. A solar panel has also been installed. However, off-grid camping does not save this solar panel because the refrigerator requires too much power. If you put the refrigerator on gas, you can camp off the grid. The refrigerator therefore works on 12 volts short-term, 230 volts and gas. There is room for two bicycles on the back of the camper.

Bink is a 2.5 liter diesel. He drives about 1 in 9. Bink enjoys driving through the mountains, but he regularly has to downshift. Bink has power steering and drives smoothly. The oil level should be checked every 600 km to be on the safe side. If it is a bit too low, add a little oil (added to the camper).

When you arrive at your destination, roll out the awning and secure it with storm protectors. You will receive a tent carpet, 5 chairs, outdoor table and laundry rack. The only things you need to bring are your bicycles, clothes, toiletries and any games and (outdoor) toys.
You can choose to rent the SUP, washing machine (yes!), oven and bread maker for a small additional charge.
To make your trip as comfortable as possible, we make the beds, you will receive sufficient dishcloths, tea towels, washing up supplies, herbs and olive oil, large and small towels, a ready-to-use toilet and a tasty snack.

Please note: In some Dutch and foreign cities you need an environmental sticker. Because Bink dates from 1988, he is not welcome in most environmental zones. You can find more information about this on the ANWB website.
