Hello, I am Joan, a retired remedial educationalist. When my children were little, we traveled through Europe in a Volkswagen van. That van didn't stand the test of time, but I did. After wonderful long-distance trips, I am now choosing adventure closer to home.
I enjoy traveling south, leisurely through France to Spain, where I used to live, but now I would like to explore Scandinavia and Eastern Europe. For shorter trips, I enjoy the Netherlands and the surrounding countries.
My dog travels with me; he is about six years old now. During that time, he survived on the streets, came to Amsterdam as a feral young dog, started to feel at home here, and is now a wonderful travel companion.
Along the way, I enjoy drawing and painting, which allows me to enjoy slow travel. Furthermore, I head into nature with binoculars and a magnifying glass.
I thoroughly enjoy my van and love sharing it with others. It is suitable for cities and nature, stealth camping or a campsite, and is exactly the right size: a slightly spacious mini-camper.
