If we could give me than 5 stars we would. Not only does Ruaridh have the most beautiful campervan and gives an incredibly helpful handover, he is just a really nice guy. We hired Ruaridh's campervan for our honeymoon to do the NC500. He went above and beyond to make it the most perfect trip for us including leaving us a bottle of wine in the campervan fridge and giving us a gift to take away with us. Ruaridh has kitted out the campervan with everything you could need and it is perfect for the most stunning holiday in the Scottish Highlands. Through no fault of the vehicle we got a puncture and Ruaridh kindly drove over an hour to meet us so that we did not have to continue our journey with the spare tyre. We had an amazing experience with the campervan. It was our first campervan adventure and we loved it. The van itself drives like a dream and handles very well on the backroads. Sizewise its perfect for all the roads we encountered and where larger motorhomes struggled. Our extended NC500 trip totalled 850 miles, all without any issues. In our opinion we were one of the coolest vans around. The color and retro vibe put a smile on our faces and we were happily greeted by other VW campervans whereever we met them. The van is put together thoughtfully and stocked and equipped with everything you could need and more for your NC500 (or elsewhere) trip. The fridge is large enough to be able to cater to two people for over a week - the kitchen has two burners, pots and pans are big enough to comfortably cook larger portions after a big hike, and there is enough storage to stow away all shopping and luggage. The bed is comfortable (with the topper) and we were nice and toasty during the end-of-September nights due to the warm blanket provided. For extra cold evenings the van is also equipped with a heater which heats up the van very quickly. It is also fully capable of wild-camping with gas, water and electricity available in the van. Ruaridh is a great person. He is very passionate about both the van and the region and really wants to give you the best experience possible for your trip. Picking up the van we went over everything thoroughly so that we fully understood all the equipment. He also gave us some great tips and recommendations which paired really well with our plans. Returning the van we shared stories from our trip over coffee and you could really see that he enjoyed hearing that we had an amazing time. We highly recommend Ruaridh and renting his van! The van is thoughtfully laid out and includes everything you might need throughout your trip. It is easy to drive and comfortable to stay in. The interior details show that the van has been built by someone who frequently heads out themselves. Ruaridh was very thoughtful every step of the way: clear communication, kind and very empathetic. He made us feel right at home and was always there when we needed him, but kept a low profile otherwise. Highly recommended, and we'll be back for sure! September 2025

I hired this van with a friend and we had a fantastic time exploring the NC500 over 8 days in all weathers.. We became very fond of the van during our trip. I loved driving it and it managed the mountain passes without issue. It’s comfortable and thoughtfully kitted out with everything you need for your trip. The bed is also super comfy. Ruaridh and Julia are lovely, kind and genuine people. Ruaridh took the time to give us a detailed and thorough intro to the van and he was responsive throughout our trip. He shared some great tips of stop off on the way if asked. He even collected us from the airport and dropped us off after which made the whole process so simple and efficient. The van was really well thought through - plenty of storage, easy to drive, and even had the luxury of being able to stand up inside. Honestly couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Ruaridh was so helpful before collection and really put us at ease with any concerns we may have had and also sent us a really helpful checklist to use. Pickup of the van was again so easy and he made us feel like he really wanted us to just enjoy the vehicle for what it is! The van itself is really well equipped, spacious and reliable. Ruaridh saved our trip! Our van from Edinburgh was cancelled a day before our trip and we messaged Ruaridh last minute. He replied promptly, went out of his way to ensure the van was ready for us and picked us up from the train station. We completed over 700 miles in the van doing the NC500. It was perfect for the narrow windy roads and fully equipped with everything we needed when staying in campsites overnight (linens, towels, kitchen equip etc.). The induction to the van was excellent and the van was very well taken care of - the sound system in the back was great! We can’t thank Ruaridh enough for letting us hire his van, we would highly recommend to anyone else who is doing the NC500/visiting the highlands! August 2025

My partner and I had an amazing 10 days using Ruaridh's van to go around the NC500. The van is very simple to drive, and it is a great balance between space + practicality. I always felt confident, on the rare occasions it was needed! It is very well-equipped with cooking equipment, bedding, towels, cleaning supplies, and a phone mount for maps. Blackout curtains for sleeping worked well, and we never felt cold. The fridge is sufficient for two people, and the gas worked as expected. Ruaridh is really knowledgeable when it comes to motorhomes and gave us a thorough run-through of the van beforehand. He is also knowledgeable of the area, friendly and offered advice on our route plan. Would recommend "Thermos" for a trip around the highlands! August 2025

We had an amazing 8-day trip in the van. Perfect for 1-2 people. It is easy to drive, which makes it comfortable to take on some of the small, steep roads out there. Conveniently, the battery is charging very well when driving - we did not hook it up for electric once in the 8 days. Ruaridh is extremely friendly and helpful. He gave us a great induction making us very comfortable with the van from the beginning and helped us with advice along the trip - he was always easy to reach, quick to reply, and sent thorough, well-considered suggestions for hikes or safe places to camp, thanks to his excellent knowledge of the area. He also supplied practical equipment like towels, duvet, etc. for the car and kindly transferred us to and from the train station which was highly convenient. August 2025
