At the beginning of 2022, we converted this L2H2 Peugeot Boxer into a modern camper bus. We traveled around southern and eastern Europe with it for 6 months. We slept on beaches in Albania, in the mountains of Romania and in the center of Rome. So we can say with certainty that it is a very flexible, comfortable camper and fully equipped!
It is a nice and high-quality finished bus camper, which is completely self-sufficient. Perfect for wild camping, but the compact size also means you can fit into any parking lot in the city. The bus itself drives very well, with cruise control, air conditioning (only in the cabin), electric windows and runs economically for a camper (1:13).
Inside there is a fully equipped luxury kitchen with refrigerator (65L) including freezer compartment, 2 burner hob and spacious sink with running water. Under one of the seats there is an extra cool box for items that you want to keep cool but not cold - the freezer compartment keeps the cooling elements cold.
A full set of crockery can be found in the cupboards. There are also pans, a percolator, a fast 220V kettle and a milk frother. There are always spices, oils, coffee and different types of tea on the bus.
The seating area includes a handy extendable table. Because you can sit opposite each other, you can play fun games. With the large sliding doors and many windows you have the feeling of sitting outside. With the dimmable lighting you can always create the right atmosphere and you have enough light at night.
One of the most important things about our self-build was a long and comfortable bed. The bed is therefore an extendable length bed with a real mattress and slatted base. Are you ready to go to sleep? Then you slide the bed out over the seating area. The headboard is located at the back doors, the footboard at the kitchen. The bed is wedged on the sides between a window and a cupboard. When the bed is extended, the chair by the door can be used as a step to the bed and there is still space between the bed and the kitchen counter. This is about 50-55cm - not very much, but enough for us to brush our teeth and use the toilet :)
The mattress consists of two separate parts. Most of it remains in its permanent place (between cupboard and window). When the bed is retracted, the short part can be placed on top of the other mattress part or, if the bus is stationary, on the front seat.
The bus is fully insulated, which keeps out heat, cold and noise. The custom-made blackout curtains ensure a good night's sleep, even if you stand under a street lamp. Thanks to the combination of a very quiet fan and a skylight with insect screen, you can sleep safely with all other windows closed, and still have sufficient cooling air flow without being bothered by mosquitoes. You can store your valuables in the hidden safe. A good Bluetooth speaker is also available. There are both USB connections and 220V sockets (max. 1000W). There is a Porta Potti on the bus, but also a shovel, if you are more of the 'wild camping' type. The bus also has a separate sunshade that can be hung on the roof edge. The storage room also contains two camping chairs, two folding chairs and a camping table.
The battery pack is charged with solar panels or while driving. We don't even have a power connection for the campsite, so you are obliged to use green electricity :) The battery is large enough to keep the refrigerator cold for a few days, run the fan and charge your phone when you some cloudy days.
Two water tanks of 50L in total provide enough water to be off-grid for a few days.
There is a lot of storage space in the bus. In the kitchen, upper cupboards and in the large cupboard next to the bed, but also in the storage room. This bus is perfect for people with many hobbies. In addition to all the camping gear, we can easily take 3 kites and 2 inflatable SUPs with us on holiday and there is room to hang 2 kitesurfing/wakeboards. You can carry two bicycles on the bicycle rack (max. total 30kg).
The bus does not have a heater or winter tires and is therefore not suitable for traveling in winter weather.
We have 2 mountain bikes and 2 inflatable SUPs with electric pumps that we can rent out with the camper, on request.
