Lady Orange 1974 (Volkswagen T2B)
Our old lady has been in possession since 2011 to enjoy cruising through Europe with partner and friends. Lady Orange has meanwhile experienced England, France, Luxembourg, Belgium and Germany up close. In 2019 it was time for an engine overhaul, 2021 she got a household battery. Now that she is really reliable, it is time to let others enjoy all the beauty that this Volkswagen T2B Westfalia has to offer.
Our motorhome has many original features such as furniture and furnishings. The sofa can be folded down into a double bed and the lifting roof has recently been fitted with a new canvas. At the top you can sleep, the lifting roof is also open during cooking activities. The bus is equipped with many conveniences; running water, a refrigerator on 12V and 230V when camping with fixed electricity, a two-burner gas stove and a household battery that makes a 12V system available for small electrical equipment such as chargers, telephone, fan, etc. Additional elements are a bus tent (connect to the gutter), a camping table and two comfortable chairs. The original seat cube can also serve as storage furniture and seating. Plenty of choices!
The furniture is complete with a pan set, cutlery and original Brabantia crockery for 4 people. A roll-up topper, a complete bedding package and towels and tea towels are also available. There is a waterproof bag on the roof for extra luggage space, good for the supplied double duvet, for example. Also included is a lovely picnic blanket in matching orange.
We rent out our lady from a private status. We do this to keep her on the road for years to come. We foresee a lot of maintenance in the future, including for painting and welding. We are also working on a canopy for her so that she can also be nearby in winter. Partner Alexandra runs a dog shelter at our location. If the need arises, it is possible to agree on a special price for childcare. Due to limited space, this is only possible outside the high season (July/Aug), or with a reservation for February of the relevant year. We live in the countryside south of Breda. When you come to pick up the bus, you can safely leave your own car on your own property.
Of course some background about Lady Orange. In March 1974 she left the band in Wolfsburg, Germany. From the tire in Wolfsburg, the bus first travels to Weidenbruck, where Westfalia provides the bus with all kinds of motorhome attributes. The Westfalia version "Dallas" has been specially developed for the American market and provides a beautiful lifting roof, substructure propane tank for gas stove, refrigerator and of course a sink including water tap. It can sleep up to 4 people, so an average family can easily go out with this. After fitting the bling-bling, Lady Orange first drives to Dusseldorf Airport. It is already reserved for vacationing Americans. In the 1970s there was an offer from Volkswagen, naturally elaborating on the hippie status of the years before, that American tourists would pick up their own hippie bus themselves to be able to make a long tour through Europe. Immediately from the airport, the tourists pick her up for 4 weeks of camping fun. After that, the owners return home by plane and Volkswagen arranged for a transport of the bus to California. So Lady Orange arrived in California on a beautiful cruise and spent the longest time of her life there. In 2011, she returned to Europe by ship, where we are the first new owners.
