Our robust and rugged rear wheel drive Mercedes Viano will take you anywhere you can imagine. With its 110 hp 2.2l diesel engine, it delivers a lot of power even in the mountains.
We have arranged our self-build van according to our own insight as we think it can be used most versatile. The bus has, among other things, a spacious bed (130x190) with wonderful mattresses that we have specially made to measure. A 65l refrigerator with small freezer compartment, a three-burner gas stove and a Portapotti toilet. The sofa can be converted into a bed with a simple sliding system. There is the possibility to create a seat inside by replacing the table that has to be removed. This can be done in 2 ways so that there are different seating options.
With cozy curtains you can quickly create a cozy atmosphere inside and we have window insulation for you on the bus for the front windows. The windows at the back are blinded and therefore provide a lot of privacy.
There is an awning on the outside of the bus that you can extend to 2.25m and below you can sit and enjoy the surroundings on our included camping set.
You don't have to be afraid that you will get cold in this camper! We have insulated it extremely well ourselves. And in combination with the diesel heater you really don't have to be cold. That makes this motorhome extra suitable for going out in less weather. We ourselves stood on a mountain in Norway with -1 at 1400m and it remained well above 0 in the camper and out of luxury we turned on the diesel heater for a while, but because the surface to be heated is not large it is also so hot in the bus .
There is a 50 liter clean water tank and a 20 liter waste water tank. A household battery of 230 amps ensures that wild camping is no longer a problem. With a solar panel on the roof, consumption is minimal. Even if the sun does not show itself, you can still enjoy wild camping endlessly.
We ourselves traveled through Scandinavia with this van for 3 months and we have not had the battery empty once in these 3 months. Better yet, not even once below 80%. Wall power is present and works directly on the 220v socket, but does not charge the household battery. If, for whatever reason, it becomes empty, you can load it by driving. All USB rechargeable devices can therefore be charged, but do you have something with a plug. For example an airfryer or a laptop then you will have to be in a place with power.
There is ample cupboard space under the kitchen for provisions and the cupboard to the side has ample space for clothes. Under the bed is a hidden compartment where, for example, some games can be placed and a large drawer for, for example, a bbq or the like. Through the second sliding door you enter the "garage" where you can store, for example, an extra pair of shoes. Here you can also keep an eye on the water level to see if you need to top up. You will also find the gas bottles and the waste water tank here.
There is a possibility to take the bicycle carrier with you, but unfortunately the tailgate can no longer be opened. We ourselves have noticed that taking the bicycles with you is very unnecessary because you can get everywhere with such a small bus. We would therefore advise against it.
As you read, there is no shower in our compact van, but the solution for this is simple. An outdoor shower, which you hang on the tailgate or in a tree and let the sun warm you. When you put it in the sun in the morning, you can take a wonderful shower at the end of the day.
