July 24, 2017 in Destinations

A weekend away with your loved one can so often be needed, yet hard to come by because of busy spots and searching. Look below to find some surprised spots, that we think might suit you.

A motorhome holiday provides so much freedom that can so easily be enjoyed. Naturally, romance easily follows this freedom. In aid of this, we’ve put together some of the more romantic destinations that can be enjoyed on a holiday.

Lake Como, Italy

A huge number of marvellously picturesque boat rides await you, drifting along happily. Once you’re in Como, you have to take a trip to the cathedral, the last gothic kind to be built in Italy. Having done this, take the Funiclar to visit the lovely village of Brunate. This quaint village provides a lovely moment to appreciate the trip, and take in some lovely, local beauty.

Giant’s Causeway, Northern Ireland

It may not sound extremely romantic, but what this offers is serenity. Unique rock formations lining the oceanic coast, coupled with stunning views and sound of gulls singing. Some sea air, and you’ve found your perfect little ocean escape, ideal for quiet and calm in the company of your significant other.

Sintra, Portugal

Perhaps most well known for the colourful Pena Palace, Sintra is the type of city where you’d expect to meet Prince Charming - or visit with him. Close to a natural park, and the coast, it’s a city built for strolls and adventures. Spend an evening in Várzea de Colares, or rest in Penedo da Saudade. Described by the great Romantic poet Lord Byron as “glorious Eden”, it’s definitely worth the visit.

Copenhagen, Denmark

Granted, when you think of a romantic destination, Copenhagen may not be the first place that comes to mind. Although, did you know the story of The Little Mermaid originates in Copenhagen? Perhaps proof enough of the romance at Danish hearts! If not, take a trip to Thorvaldsen’s Museum to see Cupid, or walk along to Bryggebroen to seal your love. It’s definitely a secretly beautiful city worth the trip.

Budapest, Hungary

Despite its recent growth in tourism, it can still be considered something of a hidden gem in Europe - perhaps one of the last, in terms of cities. From the Fisherman’s Bastion, you have a breathtaking view of the Danube, the Houses of Parliament, and the city of Pest. There are a huge number of thermal baths on offer, and so we advise take time out for a relaxing soak and pamper - you’ll thank us later. Lastly, a cruise on the Danube. The river winds its way through the city, and on a cruise you’ll see the sights in the most romantic way possible.

Florence, Italy

Florence plays host to a myriad of romantic locations. First to mind is the Boboli Gardens, which really plays as an outdoor museum. You can visit Piazzale Michelangelo, to watch the sunset or the sunrise. Although there will be crowds, and so Pallaza Pitti is another spot we recommend. Feel like royalty whilst walking through the palace gardens, and be amazed at the stunning architecture. Lastly, venture to the top of Giotto’s Campanile, to gaze out across the city itself. Although, we advise against this if you suffer from claustrophobia, as some of the winding staircases, although fun and beautiful, are quite tight and narrow
